Fairfax County Parks Girl Scout Programs

Here are some highlights
TITLE: Basic Outdoor Skills for all levels
DESCRIPTION: Scouts learn the basics of outdoor manners and being prepared for camping and hiking trips. Activities include fire building, outdoor cooking, plant identification, and knot tying. Program is 3 hours long. All food and materials are included. Just bring yourselves and dress for the weather, because we will be outside for at least 90 minutes!

TITLE: BGS Journey: Wonders of Water Tea 
DESCRIPTION: Brownie Journey: Wonders of Water This special tea program features activities from the WOW Journey book healthy living section for tea time snacks. We will use the making of tea to explore the science of the water cycle and where water goes.

TITLE: BGS- Potter 
DESCRIPTION: Brownie Girl Scout- Skill builder badge- Potter.

TITLE: CGS-Breathe Journey 
DESCRIPTION: This program completes many of the science related requirements of the Breathe Journey including properties of air, cloud studies, and more.

TITLE: CGS-Trailblazing (11-14 yrs) 
DESCRIPTION: Girl Scout Cadettes, Skill Building Awards, It’s Your Planet, Love It!

TITLE: DGS-Make the World A Better Place 5-7 yr
DESCRIPTION: Girl Scout Daisies, Rosie the Rose (rose)

TITLE: Girl Scout Sleepover at Colvin Run Mill 
DESCRIPTION: Brownie and Junior scouts tour the mill in the evening, participate in indoor and outdoor activities, followed by an indoor sleepover in the barn. Program led by a Colvin Run Mill historian. Bring sleeping bags, flashlights, and a picnic dinner. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Paid adult chaperones must accompany scouts at all times. Light breakfast provided. Females only.

TITLE: JGS-Playing the Past (9-11 yrs) 
DESCRIPTION: Girl Scout Juniors, Skill Building Awards, It’s Your Story, Tell It!

TITLE: Plant Identification for all levels
DESCRIPTION: Take a hike and learn which local plants are good for, staying warm, creating rope, and having fun! Scouts will learn to identify poison ivy, invasive species, and other potentially harmful and annoying plants as well as some edible ones. Dress for the weather because w e will be outside the whole time!

TITLE: SGS- Science of Style 
DESCRIPTION: Senior Girl Scout Skill builder badge.
